Making Holi colours from food

Many shop colours can hurt skin and go into the drain. So we made Holi colours with children using things from the kitchen: turmeric for yellow, beetroot for pink, and green leaves for green.

We mixed the colours in bowls, then sat on the grass and tried them. The Holi was bright, safe, and a bit messy — in a good way.

  • Children learned why chemical gulal is harmful

Class 3 session at DPS Greater Noida

We visited Delhi Public School, Greater Noida for Class 3. In the classroom we talked about growing food: plants need sunlight, water, and good soil. We showed how compost gives plants the best nutrients.

Students sat in their uniforms and watched the slides. We also passed around a small box of real compost so they could see and understand it up close.

  • Held at DPS Greater Noida for Class 3
  • Lesson: sunlight, water, and compost help plants grow
  • Children saw real compost during the class

Compost workshop for children

This was an Eco Club compost-making workshop. Children first read a short booklet about waste. Then they saw how kitchen peels and dry leaves slowly turn into dark compost — often called black gold.

We showed each stage in labelled bowls. Later, each child filled a small clay pot with compost. One student also spoke on the microphone and explained the steps to the group.

  • Saw compost from dry leaves to finished soil
  • Filled their own clay pots
  • A simple session any school Eco Club can try
